Jali Fily Cissokho

Senegalese master musician and inspirational praise singer, Jali Fily Cissokho plays the 21 string West African kora (a beautiful harp/lute) as if it is an extension of his own hands. Coming from a family of musicians whose skills and traditions have been passed down from generation to generation, Jali sings both roots music as well as more contemporary composition. This time he combined his soulfully voiced Griot music with accomplished accompanist Natureboy, a collaboration that was intimate, warm and wonderful to behold. “My aim,” he says, “is to bring KAIRA (peace) to all through my music.” I left his set feeling expansive and in touch with my capacity to experience that peace.
