Rehearsal For Murder
What could be more comforting than a good old fashioned murder mystery. I love a who-dunnit – when it is done well and I am pleased to say that this particular who-dunnit was done very well indeed, from an excellent setting through to some rather good performances. The setting of the story on the stage of a West End theatre is a cunning conceit, the flashbacks staged within it work well too but above all one needs to be kept in the dark for as long as possible, which the company last night certainly did. There’s a good twist to the plot, an unexpected outcome which one has come to expect from this company. The cast are strong, Anita Harris is excellent and looks amazing as does Mark Wynter. Gary Mavers is excellent in the lead and flawlessly delivers a role that is exacting in many ways. A very entertaining evening of classy theatre.
