Armed police arrest man wielding knife in Brighton

A man wielding a knife in Brighton has been arrested.

Police were called to Ditchling Road, Brighton, at about 1.15pm today (Thursday 21 July) to deal with the incident.

The man dropped the knife after armed officers were deployed and confronted him.

The road was temporarily closed during the incident.

A 35-year-old year man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and is being transferred to hospital with knife wounds, which are believed to be self-inflicted.
