The Shakespeare Revue

The lost art of Revue is rekindled in this evening of songs and skits salvaged from the last hundred years. Like any sketch show the gags are hit and miss. There are cheesy moments but also satirical gems, such as how certain plays have been done to death, from every conceivable angle. This is all carried off with aplomb by the five versatile actors/singers. The late great Victoria Wood’s ‘Giving Notes’ sketch provided the evening’s hilarious highlight. This show is best enjoyed by those well-versed in the Bard’s work in order to catch the multitude of clever references.
