Slow Club

What great fortune that Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson met. The two charismatic and acutely talented singer/multi-instrumentalists who make up Slow Club could each clearly have pursued successful solo careers, but the alchemy that happens when they combine onstage is truly a rare treat. At tonight’s packed show, their ’60s soul-inflected indie rock is illuminated with the help of musicians Fyfe Dangerfield and Avvon Chambers, making a versatile foursome. Celebrating new album, ‘Complete Surrender’, with some older favourites thrown in, their flawless set showcases real star quality, with relaxed and funny banter dotted throughout a stream of perfectly crafted and powerfully performed songs.
