Cinecity: Dreams Rewired

Utilising archive footage, Dreams Rewired delves into the history of connectivity – from morse code and recording cylinders to movies and television. Although undoubtedly an interesting topic, the film lacks any clear purpose or momentum, meandering along with few moments of revelation or excitement. Tilda Swinton’s narration is occasionally funny but often clunky too: the “Yo here’s a remix” segment would have been best consigned to the cutting room floor for example. 3D visual effects disrupt the historical tone of the film and look cheap, exemplifying the unfinished and unpolished nature of the whole film.
