Brighton hosts conference for enterprising mums

More than 200 mums with businesses attended a conference and awards ceremony inBrighton. They heard ITV breakfast show presenter Kate Garraway, 44, share her experiences of her first year in business. And they picked up tips and skills from a host of experts.

Laura Tenison, the founder of JoJo Maman Bébé, explained how she built a business with a £30 million turnover. She credited a policy of slow organic growth, strong ethical policies and declining to rely on debt.

Coach Karen Skidmore helped every woman who attended, however new to networking, to set and meet their goals for the day and to leave with a plan to improve their business.

The conference, the Business Mums Summit, was held at the Thistle hotel inBrighton, last week and combined with the “mumandworking”awards.
