Eye Health Matters
An event to promote National Eye Health Week is taking place today (Monday 18th September).
Vision matters. For many people sight is the sense they fear losing the most. Yet for a lot of people they don’t know how they can look after their eyes. The event being held today is hoping to change that!
If you or someone you know has a visual impairment, or whether you just want to find out how to keep your eyes healthy, this event offers the chance to find out more about what services are available in your local area.
A number of local organisations and services will be attending the event, including: Guide Dogs for the Blind; RNIB; Blind Veterans UK and East Sussex Association of Blind and Partially Sighted People. There will be some professionals available to offer advice and help to overcome issues relating to sight loss. There will also be equipment on show. Some sighted guides will be on hand to offer assistance where it is required.
The event is being held at St Georges Church in Kemptown between 10:30am – 4pm. The venue is close the Sussex Eye Hospital and assistance can be provided from and to the nearest bus stops.
The church also has a café which is serving drinks and refreshments.
If you live in or near Brighton and want to know more about eye health and what support is available for blind and/or partially sighted people, then this is the perfect event to pop along to!
