Latest TV’s, Latest Signing! A new series kicks off at Latest TV this June

Presenter, Steve Hopper, has joined the team to bring the World Cup back home to Sussex!

“I’ve always loved the game and I’m a bit of a show off,” says Steve, “so being able to combine the two is a dream job for me!”

World Cup Latest will air every match day during the tournament held in Russia.

“It’s a programme unique to any other broadcaster as this comes from a fan’s perspective of the World Cup. A behind-the-scenes if you like. Because it’s supporters who really make football what it is.”

The programme will also have a local appeal, such as updates on Albion Goalkeeper Mat Ryan and his World Cup journey for Australia. And interviews with Seagull’s fans along with various other fun footballing features.

Like many boys, Steve developed an interest in football and his first tournament was none other than Euro 96 when he was just nine years old.

“This is where I first discovered which team I wanted to support. I followed Man United for a couple of seasons, as it seemed to be the done thing, but I quickly realised it was international football that sparked my passion.”

Throughout Steve’s life, he’s followed England, just like any other club. He’s been to Wembley so many times, he can’t remember the exact number and he watches the club game with a keen eye on England players.

Many will recognise Steve from a variety of TV programmes. Locally, he’s worked for a number of radio stations and was once a lecturer of Film at Sussex Downs College.

At 17, Steve interviewed former England Captain John Terry and watched England vs Sweden at Euro 2012 with former England player Graeme Le Saux. He was even voted by Carling in an unofficial poll as fifth next likely to take over from Sven as England Manager! Recently he presented a piece on an exclusive tour around Wembley Stadium.

Due to his work with a mix of broadcasters and newspapers over the years, this offered him the chance to be involved in football from a media perspective. Steve’s weekly newspaper column allowed him to be one of the first to attend Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium, via the Media Suite. Here, he reported on the very first match.
