9-Year-Old Carmen’s Success in National Lockdown Writing and Storytelling Competition

A project created to help children express their thoughts and feelings about lockdown and COVID reaches a grand finale today with winners across multiple age categories from 3 – 17 being chosen by a panel of five children’s authors. Children have sent in art, stories and poems for a digital time capsule that will also be archived by the British Library as part of the UK Web Archive. Children of Lockdown was launched by the founder of Storychest and mum of three, who wanted to create a safe place for children to reflect on lockdown. She also wanted to draw more attention to the importance of parents really leaning in and listening to children’s views and understanding the impact of this challenging period on them. Her app, Storychest, supported families through lockdown by providing a place for people to share close personal memories. Latest TV’s, Yael Breuer, speaks to Charlotte who has created the project and Carmen, who participated in it, to find out more.
