The Wild Secrets of Brighton’s Murmurations
Undercurrents is an exhibition at Phoenix Art Space by Steve Geliot and Louise McCurdy, following the winter starling murmurations on Brighton Palace Pier.
From the exhibition page: “the intense life and death drama, which lies behind the beautiful dance of the murmurations, will be explored through visceral experience, physical evidence, multi channel sound capture of both starlings and peregrines to unravel the secrets of our ‘wild’ city and its wildlife ecosystem. The starling nest boxes featured in the exhibition use wood locally sourced in East Sussex, with thanks to Balcombe Estate Saw Mill. The rubber strips on the nest box roof were kindly provided by Brighton Bike Hub. After the exhibition, the starling nest boxes will be located around the city to create a starling colony.”
The exhibition is from the 15th January – 20th February, 11:00 – 17:00, Wednesday – Sunday.
