ABANDONED WOMEN & DEBBIE HARRY, GIRL POWER

Some of us may have seen Neville’s Island some years back at Chichester Festival Theatre starring Ade Edmundson. Now we have Sheila’s Island, a differently gendered re-imagining of Tim Firth’s 1992 comedy play adapted for an all female cast. That alone draws me to this new production, that and a cast of well known stars stranded on an island for a character building outward bound course that goes so so wrong, imagine Lord of the Flies meets The Office perhaps.

Sheila’s Island is on tour and comes to the Theatre Royal Brighton for a week from Tuesday the 19th of April.

Over at The Brighton Centre this month is one of the most iconic bands of the last 50 years, and yes that does make me feel very old. But the minute the Brilliant Debbie Harry and Blondie walk out on that stage those years will fade away. Growing out of the punk era, Blondie have remained at the top, not only for performing live, but for a string of brilliant top selling albums, and Harry herself looks and sounds as stunning as ever. Expect a night of brilliant music and no doubt all their chart topping hits.
