Marc The Vet OBE – #BeMoreMosquito
“If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” Dalai Lama, 2009.
Stephanie Prior recently met with Marc Abraham OBE aka ‘Marc the Vet’ to discuss his latest book, ‘#BeMoreMosquito’ . In this book, Marc shares insight into not only how he has become a multi award winning animal welfare campaigner, but also how you can make a powerful campaign and create change.
The book begins by telling the story of how Marc, a Vet, decided that he needed to use his knowledge and experiences of animal cruelty to challenge the UK government, which would later lead him and his team, 10 years later, to create new legislation, ‘Lucy’s Law‘.
Lucy’s Law bans the selling of puppies (and kittens) by pet shops and dealers, making all breeders accountable. In 2021, Marc was awarded the title of OBE by Prince Philip in recognition of his outstanding work and dedication to support animal welfare in the UK and internationally.
In his new book, #BeMoreMosquito, Marc provides a guide of tips and tools that you can use to establish an effective campaign that has the power to create change. It reminds us that we all have the power to create change – and no matter who we are, just like a mosquito, we can make enough noise to capture attention and create influence.
From meeting MPs and engaging with A-list celebrities, to the role of e-government petitions and developing your own campaign brand, this book will guide you through how to raise awareness, dispel myths, change public and even corporate behaviour, and importantly, how to make progress and influence legislation that can make our world a better place, and all for free!
