BREMF – A New Dawn – Ensemble Hesperi

In this, the first Malcolm Rose Memorial Concert, BREMF was celebrating the memory of an old friend and stalwart supporter. BREMF LIVE! has nurtured so many excellent ensembles and Ensemble Hesperi was the ideal couple to represent Malcolm Rose’s important legacy in the fascinating world of the harpsichord. Thomas Allery, Director of Music at the Temple Church, has such mastery of the keyboard. He appears so relaxed, alert and responsive to the delightful antics of Mary-Jannet Leith on her recorders. It’s bound to be an interesting concert when half the composers’ names are unfamiliar, although we may have heard their work in previous concerts. The variety of moods, the astonishing virtuosity, the compelling enthusiasm and scholarship are elements of a BREMF concert that we have been trained to expect.

Ensemble Hesperi

We have been very privileged to hear these excellent musicians bloom from their student days to now, surely near the very top of their game.
