Corelli Ensemble

The Corelli Ensemble’s robust and superbly articulated rendition of the ‘Four Seasons’ kicked off the concert in fine style. The soloist, Nathaniel Anderson-Frank, had real fire in his playing, which was both sweet and vinegary as appropriate. By contrast, Barber’s equally famous ‘Adagio for Strings’ positively dripped melancholy and only those with a heart of pure flint could have failed to have been moved. Dvorak’s ‘Serenade for Strings’ provided the perfect musical dessert: light, sugary, effortlessly elegant. A wonderful musical repast served up in a beautiful venue. Absolute heaven. The omission of Piazzolla’s, ‘Libertango’ from the programme was the only negative.
