SomeNews: The Live Show

Steve N Allen’s SomeNews is variously a website, newsletter, podcast and – as tonight – touring show that digests current affairs with well informed wit. Allen was setting up his show single-handed as we arrived: not the most relaxing situation for a comic, but one that he turned to his advantage by cheerfully enlisting the audience’s help to get things up and running. A genial and generous host, Allen linked his PowerPoint news comment with self-critical gags and crowd interaction, and, although the initial hiccups made this a wobbly start to his Fringe run, the week ahead looked very promising.
