Light Bites: Horses for courses


On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June, the Bluebell Railway will host their annual Sussex Food Festival. This will take place at Horsted Keynes station, Sussex, and will be open from 10:00am–5:00pm on both days.

This is a wonderful opportunity to sample a wide variety of fresh, home cooked, traditional, organic and unique delights the county of Sussex has to offer. For the fourth year running the event is being supported by the Southern Co-operative in Haywards Heath. Also offering sponsorship this year will be Knill James Chartered Accountants in Lewes and the Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club together with Plumpton College who are leaders in promoting local produce and sustainability.

Over 50 companies will be exhibiting and it will be possible to sample ice creams, cheeses, traditional sausages homemade jams, chutneys, mustards and much, much more. There will also be award winning sparkling wines from the Bluebell Vineyard.

English wine producer Bolney Wine Estate will be supporting the event, giving wine demonstrations throughout the day.The Bluebell Brass Band will be playing on the platform at Horsted Keynes, there will be a bouncy castle for children and the Bluebell Railway will be running steam trains as per their number one service which departs from Sheffield Park every hour on the hour from 11:00am
to 4:00pm. Trains depart from Horsted Keynes at approximately 20 minutes past the hour.
