Joan Armatrading

This is one singer, songwriter and guitar virtuoso who really knows how to enjoy her art. The new compositions from ‘Starlight’ sat comfortably among the more classic arrangements and were well received by the crowd of adoring fans. This latest offering shows off Armatrading’s voice in a revamped but familiarly reassuring style; vibrant, unique and totally enthralling. Joan appealed to those nervous of the newer jazzier numbers with her disarming cheerfulness, her passion and her easy grace. Exciting and energetic to the last, the evening was elegantly and effortlessly eclectic.
