The Cemetery Club
It took a while for this performance to get going. A fluffed line or two seemed to knock the performers’ confidence (and audience alike), consequently the energy stalled despite the best efforts of the rest of the cast to recapture it. It was a rather safe script/story – three Jewish/American widows meet monthly to visit the graves of their husbands, when one tries to break the cycle by dating the others plan to wreck her chances fearful that the ‘club’ will break up. A bit magnolia for my tastes but plaudits to Anita Harris who performed with integrity and made the piece believable.
