Murder Mistaken

Strangely, the programme gives much space to the company and cast but tells us nothing about the writer, Janet Green. In her day, she wrote for some of the biggest names of stage and screen and the quality almost shows in this revived touring production. This period piece, 60 years old a Jubilee production, more polite than Poirot and with fewer murders than Marple, still offers some amusing twists and tensions, but not the tense psychological thriller promised in the publicity. The cast play it straight, as it deserves, with sympathetic laughs mainly for the put-upon maid, Emmie (Érin Geraghty).
