Kelp Forests and SeaPods: The Rewilding of the Sussex Seabed

This “Nature Spot” special, with our Nature Correspondent Steve Geliot, explores an ambitious project to restore the Sussex underwater ecosystem, following decades of damage from the Great Storm of 1987 and destructive bottom-trawling. Marine experts and divers discuss the deployment of innovative “SeaPods” – concrete habitats designed to mimic limpets – which provide vital anchorage for carbon-absorbing kelp forests and breeding grounds for lobsters and rays.
