War on Hunger

During September and October, top Brighton restaurants will participate in the UK’s leading foodie appeal, Love Food Give Food, by inviting their customers to take action against child hunger simply by eating out.
Supported by a multitude of culinary luminaries including Raymond Blanc, Giorgio Locatelli, Valentine Warner and Marcus Wareing, Love Food Give Food, unites food lovers who are turning their passion for food into action to help malnourished children and their families worldwide.

Joining hundreds of restaurants across the nation, top Brighton restaurants will be supporting Love Food Give Food by giving customers the opportunity to add a small donation to their bill or offering certain dishes where a percentage of the cost goes to Action Against Hunger. In response to the ongoing food crisis in East Africa, the aid agency has launched one of their biggest humanitarian responses to date, implementing life-saving programmes in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti.

Customers will also have the fantastic chance to win 26 free meals for two in top restaurants across the nation by collecting four stickers on their Love Food Give Food loyalty cards by eating out at participating restaurants between Saturday 1 September and Wednesday 31 October. Loyalty cards are available from participating restaurants and in the September edition of Delicious magazine.
Food lovers and restaurants across the UK can also help raise funds by taking part in toptable and OpenTable’s bespoke Love Food Give Food festival created as part of Action Against Hunger’s Love Food Give Food appeal.

Emma Cullingford, campaign manager at Action Against Hunger, said: “In 2010, food lovers, chefs, restaurants and cafés have helped raise over £170,000 in aid of our life-saving programmes worldwide. With the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa, we’re encouraging all food lovers across the nation to help make this year’s Love Food Give Food appeal the biggest ever and raise crucial funds for our worldwide programmes.”

To get involved, simply enjoy a great meal at participating restaurants and as a result help families feed their children in some of the world’s poorest countries.
