Foreign student attacked in Brighton

A man attacked and tried to rob a Korean student in Brighton before running off empty-handed.

Sussex Police said that the victim got off a bus in The Crestway, Hollingdean and walked along Stephen’s Road before turning right into Brentwood Road.

He was hit in the face by a man, knocking his glasses to the ground.

The man ran off but came back as the victim was looking for his glasses and punched him in the face several times while demanding money.

The victim fell to the ground and the man ran off empty-handed.

The suspect was described as a thin white man, about 5ft 7in tall with short hair. He appeared to be about 18 years old.

The student suffered facial injuries in the attack which happened at about 10.20pm last Saturday (18 August) but did not need hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Caroline Ingold said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the victim.

“As he was looking for his glasses the suspect returned and assaulted him again.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this attempted robbery.”
