Push your tastebuds to the limit as Brighton’s Victoria Gardens plays host to the fifth Fiery Foods Festival this September
The world renowned Fiery Foods Festival (FFUK) returns to Victoria Gardens, Brighton, for its fifth year from Friday 14 –Sunday 16 September 2012. The festival offers a wide range of entertainment, exhibitors, competitions, record breaking attempts, celebrity guests and plenty of hot, hot food. Thank FFUK it’s Friday!
A new edition to the festival on Friday 14 September from 5pm will see an assortment of chilli themed events, including a World Record attempt, live music, and the Man Vs Fire event with special guest compere, Matt Whistler (who may even take part in the challenges).
The World Record attempt will be for the most jalapeno chilli peppers eaten in one minute, and will be attempted live on stage on Friday night. The current record is 16 jalapenos eaten in one minute at the ‘Feel the Heat Challenge’ in Chicago, USA, in 2006.
The infamous FFUK Chilli Eating Contest will be held on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September. Compete with the world’s ‘maddest and baddest chilli heads’ in a bid to win prizes, and of course the coveted FFUK Chilli Eating Contest trophy.
The Amateur Hot Sauce Competition will be held on Sunday 16 September to find the best homemade chilli products, from pickles to chutneys, or even something different like cakes, pasta or alcohol depending on how adventurous the participants are.
The music line-up for FFUK 2012 is looking strong, with confirmed acts including: The Muel, The Lovely Brothers, Rough Chowder, Stars and Sons and Quackhouse Band.
There will be over 40 stalls and exhibitors along with opportunities to ask the experts for tips on cultivating the best and hottest chilli pods.
The Man Vs Fire event will be a sumptuous buffet of cheeky chilli treats, from the world’s hottest pizza and burgers to the ‘Death By Naga’ – a dessert made from The Naga Bhut Jolokia, once crowned the hottest chilli in the world. Special guests include Ted, ‘the fire breathing dragon idiot’ from Washington, USA, and Tony ‘Darth Naga’ Ainsworth – reviewer from popular website ‘The Chilli Foundry’.
