Dead Ringer
It’s hard to give a concise, pithy breakdown of the plot to this rampant farce. Suffice to say it was borderline ridiculous which of course is where the humour and fun lies. It had it all; treason, murder, commies, IRA sympathisers, gay Prime Minister, sexy estranged first lady, espionage and all set around a 1980 general election. Think ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’/’Are You Being Served’! The performance was a tremendous romp, the cast matched the energy provided by the tight and pacey script which was also really funny to boot. I even forgave the odd moment of overblown hammyness. Brilliantly entertaining from a very good cast. Go see!!!
