Simon Evans – Friendly Fire

Simon Evans’ comedy is shot through with a mercilessness and cruelty which is both wonderfully invigorating and just a little scary. Full of, ‘Did he really say that?’ moments, his Friendly Fire show bulldozed its way through the audience’s sensibilities, crushing Aunt Sally’s and leaving no taboo unmolested. His treatment of football, its fans and its stars (John Terry) were singled out for some particularly aggressive treatment as was the subject of parenthood, where, if he is to believed, Mr Evans should be expecting a call from Social Services in the immediate future. A dose of  comedic medicine which, while not always tasting pleasant, you know is doing you good.
