Brighton FesTival’s Guest Director 2013
The long-awaited annoucement of who is the Brighton Festival guest director for 2013 is now over. The festival announced last week that it is the celebrated poet, writer, broadcaster and previous Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to be involved with Brighton Festival,” Michael says. “It’s exciting but it’s also going to be a challenge! I am a great believer in festivals – they are an informal college of the arts for everyone. There’s been a big change since I was a child when the arts were tucked away in theatres and galleries and Brighton Festival takes cultural activity and brings it to many different audiences across a whole city.”

Programme highlights which can be revealed at this stage include the Brighton Festival commission The Great Enormo – a new work for narrator and full orchestra written by Michael Rosen and composed by James Morgan and Juliette Pochin. Michael Rosen will narrate the piece and will be joined by the City of London Sinfonia for this world premiere.
The full programme details will be announced on Wednesday 27 Feb 2013.

Gary goes solo
Due to phenomenal demand, X Factor’s head judge Gary Barlow has added an extra date to his UK tour including The Brighton Centre in January 2013.
The tour, which started two weeks ago, sold out within 20 minutes of going on sale and follows his two critically acclaimed solo shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London last year.

After 20 years in the business, over 50 million records sold, eight No.1 albums, fourteen No.1 singles, seven million concert tickets sold and six Ivor Novello Awards, Gary Barlow is regarded as one of Britain’s most successful singer songwriters. Together with Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams he is also a member of one of the biggest British bands of all time – Take That.

“I’m really excited about these dates. Playing live is my favourite thing and I haven’t played a solo show for over a year now,” says Gary. “Last year, playing two London shows was brilliant, we all had such a good time, so I thought right let’s get out and see the rest of the country!”
Tickets are available on 0844 847 1515.
