It’s the Christmas movie for atheists, the blockbuster we’ve been waiting for, an opportunity to journey to Middle Earth and see all of Tolkien’s creations there. Martin Freeman stars as Bilbo Baggins in the cinematic creation of the book that came before The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Bilbo is a hobbit and friend of the wizard Gandalf (a role reprised by Ian McKellan) who asks him to go on an epic quest to reclaim stolen treasure from the dragon Smaug. Accompanied by dwarves, meeting goblins, wargs, shapeshifters and a certain Mr Smeagle.
