Thieves steal valuable print from Hove charity shop

Thieves have stolen a signed boxing print from a charity shop in Hove.

The limited edition colour print shows Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier facing off as they promoted their “Thrilla in Manila” world title fight in 1975.

The print, numbered 29 of 50, was due to be auctioned to raise money for charity.

It was stolen from charity shop Sports Dreams, in George Street, Hove, which raises money for Albion in the Community.

The shop was burgled between 8.15pm on Sunday (13 January) and 12.30pm on Monday (14 January).

Daniel Grant, the assistant manager at Sports Dreams, said: “The print is 2ft square in dimension and was on display inside the store for many months.

“It was our star attraction and we are devastated that it is gone.

“Please get in touch with the police if you know its whereabouts. We really want it back.”

PC Jon Mills, from the Brighton Neighbourhood Response Team, said: “The stolen print was being saved for a special fundraising auction.

“Everyone is gutted as they were hoping to raise around £3,000 for charity.

“As nothing else in the store was taken we therefore believe the shop was broken into with the sole purpose of taking this particular print.

“Someone somewhere must know who is responsible for the theft.”
