Accuser in Brighton and Hove Albion sex assault case pursued footballers, court told

The woman who accused three Brighton and Hove Albion footballers and a former team-mate of sexual assault had pursued other players at the club.

She had a relationship with one of the players, a jury at the Old Bailey was told.

And while being cross-examined it was said that the 19-year-old had lied repeatedly about what had happened on the night of the alleged assault in July 2011. She has since turned 21.

She denied throwing herself at the accused players after failing to hook up with a player that she fancied in a Brighton night club.

She denied climbing into bed with two of the accused players at the Jury’s Inn hotel by Brighton Station after the Sussex Senior Cup Final.

And she denied having been awake at times in the night and joining in as the players larked around.

She said that the players sexually assaulted her after she had passed out and took photographs during the incident.

And while she admitted lying to her boss and officers from Sussex Police, she insisted that she could not remember what went on in the hotel bedroom.

Lewis Dunk, 21, Anton Rodgers, 19, and George Barker, 21, deny sexual assault along with 21-year-old Steve Cook, who has since joined Bournemouth.

Dunk, of Woodbourne Avenue, Brighton, Rodgers and Barker, both of Highview Avenue North, Brighton, and Cook, of Perth Road, St Leonard’s, also deny voyeurism.

The trial continues.
