Thousand take part in Brighton Half Marathon
The first runners have made it home the Brighton Half Marathon which started at 9am today (Sunday 17 February).
Paul Martelletti, a 33-year-old London runner from New Zealand, won the race in 1 hour 7 minutes and 30 seconds.
The first woman home was Emma Taylor-Gooby, 32, from Worthing, who set a personal best in 1 hour 18 minutes and 6 seconds.
More than 10,000 runners entered the race and more than 8,000 were believed to have started in Madeira Drive where the finishing line is as well.
Thousands lined the streets along the route which sticks mostly to the seafront.

The runners follow a route from Madeira Drive to the Old Steine, past the Royal Pavilion and up to St Peter’s Church.
At Gloucester Place the runners head south down Grand Parade and the Old Steine then turn left along Marine Parade.
The race then heads out towards St Dunstan’s in with the turn back towards Brighton at the Greenways roundabout.
It follows the seafront road to Hove Lagoon before returning along the promenade until the Peace Statue on the border of Brighton and Hove.
The final stretch is along the seafront road to the finish line in Madeira Drive.
