New tracking system for Brighton Marathon

A new social media tracking system makes its debut at the Brighton Marathon and will allow the public to track runners during the event

The new  technology, developed this year by HS Sports, will provide live runner updates via social media sites.

Messages will be posted to Facebook walls and Twitter feeds to let people know when the competitors have passed the starting point, 10km, halfway point, 30km and the finish.

Friends and family of the runners can use the service easily by entering the relevant bib number or surname using the ‘Find Entrants’ search.

Users will then press a ‘Click to Follow’ bottom and select to recieve updates via their chosen social hub.

The 26.2 mile haul this Sunday will once again undoubtedly draw huge crowds who will cheer on the brave individuals taking on the challenge.

The race begins at 9am at Preston Park on Sunday 14 April with most of the runners taking part on behalf of a charity.
