Parents urged to protect children from measles
Sussex Community NHS Trust is making it clear that parents must have their children vaccinated against measles
Usually children have an MMR vaccination by the age of five but Brighton & Hove has a large number of children yet to have the jab.
Six per cent of school children, making up around 3,600 kids, have not been protected and parents are being urged to make an appointment.
Rosanna Raven, immunisation specialist nurse, said,
“Measles is a very serious and contagious disease and one in ten children with measles will need hospitalization. Vaccinating your own child will also help protect unborn children and those who cannot be vaccinated”
