Celebcity: Made In Chelsea’s Jamie
Helen Flanagan takes self-service to a new level; Rizzle Kicks on TV, & Made In Chelsea’s Jamie
Helen’s Dory daze
Helen Flanagan took ‘ditzy’ blonde to a new level recently when she accidentally walked out of Brighton Boots with £200 worth of products she hadn’t paid for. Talking to Alan Carr on his Chatty Man show the ex-ITV I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star and current PETA model explained: “I was feeling hot and flustered. I walked out of the shop, I had enough. Security said, ‘Excuse me’. I looked down and there was about £200 worth in my basket. I said, ‘Oh God, I am so sorry. I would not do this kind of thing’. The security woman says, ‘Right, I’m going to have to ring the police’. I said, ‘You are joking?’.” The tough Brighton security guard wasn’t having any of it according to Flanagan. The actress continued: “I told her it was an honest mistake and she was like, ‘That’s what they all say’. Thankfully the police weren’t called in the end, but the actress has suggested she is now banned from Boots stores for the next five years; we imagine Superdrug’s false eyelashes sales are about to go through the roof… Helen ranted: “I shop there all the time. She knew what I did for a job and she just stood there nodding. It was awful. It was absolutely mortifying. I thought, ‘They can’t arrest me, I will still go to Boots’. People do walk out without thinking. I suppose I am quite ditzy.”
However, a spokesperson for Boots has since released a statement explaining: “There was no police involvement at the time and no legal repercussions have followed. We can confirm that the young lady was not banned from our stores and we have contacted her to clear up any confusion over the matter.”
Phew. After all this unglamorous business with the law it’s unsurprising the Helen was next spotted at The Lanes Health & Beauty Salon having a ‘relax and rejuvenate’ – no rest for the wicked!
Ronnie’s Five a Day
Meanwhile on the other side of Market Street, a worldwide bodybuilding legend was dining at Brighton’s favourite Italian restaurant. Ronnie Coleman, who was crowned Mr Olympia eight times, enjoyed one of his FIVE meals a day at Donatello. The man-mountain ordered off menu; eating four grilled chicken breasts with rice.
Ronnie, from Louisiana, holds the record for the most wins of Mr Olympia; winning the professional bodybuilding contest every year between 1998 and 2005. The Mr Olympia contest was made famous in the 1977 film Pumping Iron, which featured the build-up to the 1975 Mr Olympia in South Africa and helped launch the acting career of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
yeah boi!
Lovable protagonist of Made in Chelsea; entrepreneur, Jamie Laing visited WH Smiths in Churchill Square last week to sign copies of his new book, confectionary epic – Candy Kittens. ‘Heartthrob candyman’ Laing, heir to the McVitie’s fortune, created Candy Kittens, his own sweets brand, following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was credited with inventing the Jaffa Cake! The book offers recipe ideas for specially invented sweets and treats such as macarons, marshmallows, popping candy popcorn clusters , trillionaire’s shortbread and our favourites: mini nutella meringue kisses! The book also covers tips for how to dress for a ‘pardy’ in Jamie’s expansive ‘yeah boi’ style.
Music battle
Word on the street has it that Brighton ‘hip-dop duo’ Rizzle Kicks are being lined-up to co-host a brand new Channel 4 music show, alongside comedian Rob Beckett and model/presenter Billie JD Porter.
A pilot, promising ‘cutting edge comedy and chat’ is to be broadcast up against That Music Show – another pilot hosted by Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw from ‘an iconic music venue’, with the most popular show picked for commission. Both programmes aim to mix live performances with a pop quiz in an hour-long slot. Channel 4 head of formats Dominic Bird said: “Bringing a mainstream audience to music is a real challenge and these two shows provide us with a great opportunity to put music back on the agenda.” Our fingers are crossed for a bit of home-grown talent – good luck the Rizzles!
