Are you ready to ‘Rock In The Bog’?
Create your own mini (old skool) Glastonbury at Lewes’ annual event Rock In The Bog
Rock In The Bog began in 2003 when a group of hardened members of Lewes’ Cliffe Bonfire Society decided to christen the newly purchased firesite with a camping weekend.
Each year since then the event has grown both in size and in popularity and is now not only a major fundraiser for the Society, but also one of the premier music events in the South of England.
Rock In The Bog is a family friendly festival that has been likened to the early (non-commercial) days of Glastonbury, and whilst they shall endeavour to keep improving the site and its facilities, the feel of the event will remain the same.
This year, ten bands perform over two days:
Friday night starts off at 7pm with Scott Free, a Blues/Rock band playing covers from bands like Pink Floyd and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. They’re followed on stage by The Meow Meows a SKA/Soul band from Brighton, and then for the true Madness fans or those who just like to let their hair down and have fun you’ll love headline band Los Palmas 6.
Saturday kicks off at 2pm with Felix Fables, a four-piece folk-rock band, followed by Elliot’s Sleeping, a classic rock band. Next up are Horseface, a blues-based band, Liquid Fuse, a band that are the definition of Rock ‘N’ Roll and FitsRoy with a style that crosses indie and dance.
The penultimate band of the weekend is Voodoo Vegas with their ability to take influences from Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC into their own territory. To finish the weekend expect an absolutely stunning tribute to one of the greatest bands on the planet, Kings Ov Leon, as they take you on an epic, exhilarating journey playing your favourite King’s of Leon tracks.
