Japandroids

Vancouver duo Japandroids came with a great deal of hype, with many an elated reviewer singing their live praises. Sadly, this set didn’t quite live up to expectations, with frontman Brian King and drummer David Prowse (not that one) making a surprisingly forgettable duo. With an energetic garage rock/pop sound and bouncy enthusiasm hooking much of the appreciative crowd, this band may as well have been called ‘Summer’ for all their easy charm. Still, with an hour and a half of almost identical material, other than the lovely ‘Younger Us’, this show eventually felt interminable, force-feeding the audience the exact same song over and over again.
