Arbouretum @ Jam

Baltimore’s psych-rockers brought their stoner drone sound to a small, appreciative crowd, but with the opener featuring a guitar solo that seemed to last longer than the whole song it was a rather formulaic performance. Dave Heumann may be a technically excellent guitarist but the turn-of-the-seventies riffs and early-Ozzy style vocals soon wore thin. Those at the front really got into it with many headbanging to another lengthy solo that sounded like a feedback-fuelled ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ on repeat. Things improved with a block chord rocker featuring a screaming ‘Crazy Horses’ synth sound. Bassist Corey Allender had a great beard though.
