Brighton and Hove 999 Fun Day taking place on Hove Lawns

Firefighters will show how they rescue people from car crashes at the Brighton and Hove 999 Fun Day tomorrow (Sunday 11 August).

They will also show people how to deal with a chip pan fire – and what not to do.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be joined by colleagues from Sussex Police, the Coastguard and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) on Hove Lawns.

And paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service are also due to attend the six-hour event.

Borough Commander Mark Matthews, from the fire service, said: “This is always a great event.

“It is a brilliant chance for us to meet both locals and visitors to Brighton and Hove.

“We hope people will come along, say hello and ask us any questions they may have about fire safety.

“We also want people to have fun. Children can colour in our pictures and then turn them into badges and we will also have a fire appliance on display, so people can see just how well equipped modern appliances are.”

The event is from 11am to 5pm on Hove Lawns, Kingsway, Hove.
