Groundation
This review could so easily comprise a list of superlatives and nothing else: extraordinary, amazing, sublime, etc. Groundation are one of the world’s premier roots reggae bands, blending jazz, funk, fusion and a healthy dose of dub to create wonderful and truly inspirational music. After a five year absence they finally made it back to these shores and washed up at the Komedia to delight a wildly enthusiastic and noisy audience. The band themselves were in excellent form, but the sound was thick and stodgy not allowing the subtlties of the music to come through. Fine perhaps if you were just there to dance, but ultimately frustrating if you wanted to listen as well. A fantastically enjoyable evening nonetheless.
