Prisoners (15)

Following the success of his 2010 Oscar nominated feature ‘Incendies’, Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve brings us his first English language film about the disappearance of two young girls and the effect it has on their families and the community around them. After ruthless detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) is unable to retain a prime suspect, devastated father Dover Keller (Hugh Jackman) takes it upon himself to instill justice.

Reminiscent of such films as ‘The Vanishing’ and ‘Mystic River’, this crime thriller is gripping and relentless in suspense with an especially affecting performance from Jackman. With some saying this tale is representative of America’s War on Terror, you can choose to look deeper or simply bask in the knowledge that this is an intense thriller which is well worth watching.

Now showing in cinemas nationwide.
