Susie Styles: dress shopping for your body shape

If ever there’s a time to shine then it’s the festive season! Whatever the occasion – work or play – the best way to look fabulous and more importantly feel fantastic is to dress for your shape. Not only will this help show off your best assets, you’ll feel more comfortable and confident, allowing you to relax and enjoy this fun-filled time of year! Here’s my quick guide.

1. River Island, Plunge Maxi Dress with Embellished Skirt, £70
2. Asos Curve, Exclusive Swing Dress with Beaded Neck, £150
3. Lipsy, Applique Lace Dress, £60
4. TFNC, Baby Doll Skater Dress with Sequin Bodice, £45

• If you have broad shoulders, a curvy bust and slim hips go for sequins that emphasise your lower half to help balance out your fuller upper body and elongate the waist.

• If you have a fuller upper body, a prominent bust and rounded tummy, go for shiny gems that draw attention up toward your face and shoulders to disguise your fuller middle.

• If your shoulders and hips are the same width, you have little to no waist definition, a flat tummy and slim legs, opt for metallic patterns to create the illusion of curves.

• If have narrow shoulders, a neat bust and a defined waist with fuller hips, thighs and bum, go for sparkles on your upper body to balance out your fuller lower half.
