Churchill’s Spectacle maker launches new collection
A new collection of fine eyewear has been released by C.W. Dixey & Son of London, and is now available from Frames in the Lanes, in Brighton.
C.W. Dixey & Son is the oldest independently-owned eyewear company in the world, established at New Bond street in 1777 and The Chartwell collection pays homage to one of their many high profile and loyal customers, Sir Winston Churchill.
The unique eyewear is designed around Churchill’s personal request made in September 1944, of a double white spot motif on each temple tip, in light and dark tortoiseshell or glossy black and made with the very best pin hinges. It draws inspiration from the iconic styles worn by the British Prime Minister for more than five decades.
Produced in limited numbers, the collection is Jura manufactured and now offers a choice of 16 models in 44 colourways. The quintessential style is featured in “The Art of Being Winston Churchill” by Barry Singer; and Neil Handley’s “Cult Eyewear”.
As well as Sir Winston Churchill, C.W. Dixey & Son has had an impressive heritage of customers through history, including; Queen Victoria, Bond creator Ian Fleming, six further Kings and Queens of England; the Royal families of Abyssinia, Belgium, China, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, Norway, Portugal and Sweden and oddly enough Napoleon Bonaparte.
Making C.W. Dixey & Son the makers of fine eyewear to more emperors, royalty and leaders than any other.
Eyewear has gone through many different styles over the years, from the 90’s fashion of subtle thin frames drawing as little attention as possible, to the statement eyewear of today, big and bold, turning geek into chic.
C.W. Dixey & Son have remained loyally timeless and elegant with The Chartwell Collection.
All models, including half eyes and keyhole nose models, are priced from £399 including single vision lenses.
