Brighton Make Up School: sparkle this New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve is almost upon us. The turn of the year is the perfect time to shake up your make up look and pull out a sparkly stunner. There are so many different options around, it can be a bit of a mission to choose the right products and master the application! My top tips for the party season below will guide you to the right look:
• Metallic, glitter, shimmer, sparkly: it’s all about the glamour and party make up. One of the easiest make up looks to adapt to give it a glamour boost is smoky eye. A dark smoky eye should always include carefully placed highlights to ‘open the eye’ and make the eyes appear bigger.
• For instant glam, add a pair of false eyelashes. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. I’m often asked how to choose the right pair. My preferences are the ones that are shorter in the inside of the eye, finishing with a bigger ‘swoop’ at the end. Always test out the lashes first and see what the fit is like. You can trim false lashes from the inside if necessary.
• When I want to create a really glamorous look for a party, I’m not afraid
to put on a bold lip colour with a smoky eye. Red is my personal favourite and there is a shade to suit everyone – honest! Smoky eyes and red lips may not be for the daytime, but for a party, go for it!
