Celebcity: Cate Blanchett’s love
Cate Blanchett’s love, plus drummer Steve Ferrone, Helen Flanagan & Jasmin Wallia
Cate’s got good taste
We’re glad we singled out Cate Blanchett as one of the best dressed at the Golden Globes recently, as it turns out she truly does have impeccable taste. At a recent interview discussing the upcoming Clooney directed film, The Monuments Men, Blanchett divulged her love for Brighton. The Australian born actress lived in our fair city after quitting Islington, London and, talking to Yahoo News, Cate explained, “I loved living in Brighton. There’s this beauty and faded grandeur to the British seaside”, before admitting that she misses her friends back here in Blighty. It seems the recent weather wouldn’t even have been enough to put the Ozzie beauty off, with her admitting, “I know a lot of people hate the rain but I like it.” How are you with 15ft waves, Cate?
Brighton school girls’ ad fame
Brighton and Hove High School’s head girl has added another string to her bow – music video legend. Joyce Tang starred in the promo for hot Brighton band Michael A Grammar, and eventually saw herself make the homepage of the NME – an accolade indeed! The dancer, who attends Pop Dance UK, lent her signature moves to the video for upcoming single ‘Suzanna’ and the result is nothing short of amazing. She’s not the only Brighton dancing queen however, with school-girl Amelie Hurley continuing her small screen domination by being booked for the new Cadbury’s Creme Egg advert. This comes on the back of Amelie’s role in Marks and Spencer’s Christmas commercial, where she clearly impressed many with her skills! Make sure you check out both girls’ videos now – before they escape to LA!
Rock wall of fame
Congratulations to Brighton born drummer Steve Ferrone who has received a star on the Rock Wall of Fame! Drumming for the likes of Average White Band and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the drumstick-wielding superstar has also played alongside rock gods Eric Clapton and Chaka Khan.
Spotted!
Helen Flannagan in her £90,000 new car driving around Brighton. The ex-Corrie and I’m A Celebrity… star tweeted that she was down to see her agent to get her 2014 life sorted. She also took time to say she loved Brighton and that we’re all very ‘cool’. Thanks for that Helen.

TOWIE’s Jasmine at Lola Lo
TOWIE favourite Jasmin Walia checked out the Brighton nightlife recently with a visit to Lola Lo. The latest Essex star that we’re meant to be interested in tweeted that she was heading ‘dan saf’ to ‘shoot’ and party – we can only assume she meant photographs for an up-coming calendar or exclusive product endorsement… and she informed her Twitter followers that it was a ‘good night’ in all. Before heading out on the town Jasmin made sure to shoot a picture of herself in a dress that was negligent (negligee?) of its job at best; still, it got the tabloids’ tongues wagging.
Brighton inspires Sadie Frost’s new designs
Celebrity label Frost French – created by Primrose Hill royalty Sadie Frost and her childhood friend Jemima Frost – is set to re-launch with a new range for Floozie at Debenhams this year, and it’s inspired by beautiful Brighton! The swimwear, which is full of ‘bubblegum pinks’ and ice-cream cone emblems, has a distinctly vintage feel which hopes to recreate the old-school glamour of the English sea-side. Speaking to the Irish Star Frost explained that her and French took inspiration from their childhood holidays to British resorts like Brighton where they “ate gobstoppers and dropped ice cream in our laps”. We can’t wait to get our hands on the new range and wear them in the most fashionable seaside resort of them all!
