For 2014: focus on the eyes

Smokey eyes are hot on trend. Use shimmering grey/silver/black eyeshadow and blend over the lids to open up the eyes and then highlight with a thin line of black eyeliner or a softer colour of your choice (purple and blue will really open up the eyes, while grey and brown is perfect for a more subtle look) close to the lash line.

On the lower eyelids a light underline of a pale shimmer eyeshadow to match the top lids can further accentuate the eyes. Steer clear of dark eyeliner or dark eyeshadow on the lower eyelids as this can make your eyes appear smaller and you’re aiming for big and beautiful.

Most importantly, don’t overdo wedding make-up.

If you’ve picked your eyes as your key feature, opt for a pale lip colour – either nude or soft pink. Likewise, if you’ve gone for bold red lips, keep eye make-up minimal otherwise the effect of your attention-grabbing feature will be lost.

For wedding hair the ‘up do’ is the trend that never goes out of fashion. Hair pulled back into a loose (but stable!) bun, with soft curls to frame the face creates a feminine, romantic look.

Accessories are important with wedding hair. Wearing flowers as hair accessories disappeared from wedding trends for a while but seem to be making a comeback with Alexa Chung recently showing off loose waves and

A subtle tiara headband can also add sparkle to a an up-do. Try to keep your hair back from your face as much as possible. Too much loose hair means you’re at risk of curls dropping too quickly in unpredictable weather.
