Competitions: Win Breton CDs

You have probably enjoyed opening track ‘Envy’ from Breton’s much anticipated second album War Room Stories on the radio since it’s a popular, poppy number with steel drum type splashes and funky keyboard flourishes.

The album was recorded at Funkhaus studios in Berlin, which used to house 3,000 communist workers who would broadcast propaganda to the entire Eastern Bloc. Breton therefore had a unique opportunity to include subtle special effects you can listen out for on the whole record.

In terms of genre, War Room Stories never strays too far from hazy synth pop, but there’s also echo-laden pianos in ‘Brother’, as well as five tracks featuring the 44 piece Macedonian Radio Symphonic Orchestra.

The band are playing at the Village Underground on Wednesday 5 March if you want to witness this innovative band in person, and we are giving away three copies of War Room Stories (released on Monday 3 March).
