This Thursday sees the arrival of Pharrell Williams’ favourite street artists: CYRCLE. We’re on the list for the much-hyped show at StolenSpace gallery for their LA collective’s debut UK show and we cannot wait to see what they’ve come up with. After seeing them in Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ video – which we’re still addicted to in the office – we’ve been pretty excited by the guys who Shepard Fairey rates as ‘the new upstarts’ in street art. Don’t write them off as just graffiti artists however, their works blend graphic design and contemporary art in their outside murals. Fingers crossed there’ll be a few celeb faces at this opening – we’ll be sure to share them all with you!

Oh, and a quick reminder that brand new joint The Creperie is opening today (Tuesday 4 March) for Pancake day – and will be giving out free crêpes this morning! They’ll be attempting a world record attempt at pancake stacking and you can eat the goods – until they run out! Tweet @TheCreperieBTN to get involved.

Alan Rickman was in Brighton recently to see the double bill of Pinter plays at London Road’s Emporium. After spending time at the venue the actor/director has become Emporium’s very first Patron.
Mr Rickman said: “What a terrific venue you have at Emporium.

Next week we’re delighted to be working with Lawrence Alkin Gallery on the debut solo show of Noah Taylor. The actor/artist, who has made his name in films such as Submarine, Shine and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory – as well as TV show Game Of Thrones, now counts Brighton as his home and local Nick Cave as one of his supporters. Discussing the up-coming show Cave mused “Noah Taylor’s haunted portraits stare back at us and we can’t help but be touched by their strange, blank beauty”, which quite expertly explains the brilliant draw of the fantastic images. With Esquire recently hailing Noah as an artist to watch for 2014 and the private view set to be packed – we reckon this is going to be one art show you’ll be hustling to go to.

The ’90s throwback trend shows no sign of stopping soon, and we’re more than fine with that. In fact, we were ecstatic to hear that the decade of rave and skirt-trousers is still alive and well in Brighton – with one of its biggest celebrities name-dropping our city in a recent interview. No it wasn’t the Gallagher brothers or Damon Albarn, but everyone’s favourite Bel Air butler: Geoffrey! Speaking to Digital Spy recently, The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air’s Geoffrey – or as his mother knows him, Joseph Marcell – reminisced about his time by the sea-side at the Brighton Festival last year. The actor, who played a role in The Globe’s travelling production of King Lear, was mobbed when he hit the town to soak up the Brighton nightlife. “When people realised who I was and word got out, 280 people stood up and sang out, ‘This is the story all about how, my life got flipped-turned upside down’,” remembered Marcell, before adding, “I just thought, ‘Bloody hell’. It seems to be a legend of generations.” Well, yes. Exactly. All together now: *GEOFRREEEYYY*.
