Driver hunted after Hove man knocked over

A man suffered a broken hip when he was hit by a car in Hove last Friday (7 March).

Police are trying to trace the driver who stopped at the scene but was told that he did not need to stay.

The 48-year-old victim, from Hove, was crossing Stapley Road where it meets Hangleton Road at about 4pm on Friday when he was bit by the car.

Sussex Police said: “The driver stopped at the scene but the victim told him he was ok and that he could leave.

“The victim was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment and found to have suffered multiple fractures to his pelvis in the crash.

“Officers are now trying to trace the driver as part of the investigation.”

PC Gavin Spencer said: “The only information we have is that he was driving a large car which was possibly brown in colour.

“If you saw what happened or you are the driver please contact us.”
