Want a quick behind-the-scenes tour of a community-owned pub? Those behind The Bevy clearly don’t know me all that well putting a question mark at the end of that sentence; the answer was always going to be yes.
And so it was at Friday lunchtime that I joined Warren Carter in a quick peek at how work is progressing with the country’s first community-owned pub on a council estate.
This is a local with a difference – even the local vicar is a shareholder. And as well as serving drinks to the people of Moulsecoomb and Bevendean, it will also offer cookery courses and a community space.
The only thing disappointing about the trip was that there was no beer at the end – looks like I’ll have to wait a few weeks before my thirst for this local story is fully quenched.
Elsewhere at Latest TV this week, the sports team showed their eagerness to tackle any activity by heading to the seafront to witness six drag queens sprinting in six-inch heels.
But never fear, this was not a send up – it was all in the name of Sport Relief.
Davina Sparkle, Miss Jason and their fabulous friends are part of Adonis Cabaret who donated £1,000 to Sport Relief.
Miss Sparkle told Latest Sport’s Joseph Gunn: “If we queens can get involved and run for Sport Relief, anyone can.” The lads were keen for me to tell you that Sport Relief takes place from 21–23 March and there are events happening across Sussex. To find your nearest one go to www.sportrelief.com.

Elsewhere, Richard and the What The Waffle gang headed up to Hangleton to talk to Ruthanne (CORR) about how to spruce up their CVs.
After analysing all the acronyms and erasing all the esoteric jargon, the end result was a cracking bit of film which even the most hard-nosed of employers would fail to be impressed by.
Quite why Richard needed a full afternoon to get all of this in the can I still can’t fathom.
And why he has booked next Thursday off for an “urgent dentist appointment” is also a mystery.
What doesn’t require Miss Marple’s attention is the goings on at Brighton and Hove City Council.
Frank Le Duc has made Hove Town Hall his second home – don’t worry, he’s not getting any MPs expenses – this week, racking up the hours at various meetings.
The highlights were 20mph limits being rolled out across suburban areas of the city and a deal to finance the i360 viewing tower getting the go-ahead.
