A27 Brighton bypass closed after crash near Southwick Tunnel
The A27 Brighton bypass was closed this afternoon (Friday 25 April) after a crash close to the Southwick Tunnel.
Drivers heading towards Shoreham were delayed and diverted after the accident just after lunchtime.
Sussex Police said: “We were called at 2.05pm after the driver of a Ford Mondeo lost control on the A27 westbound and crashed between Hangleton and Shoreham.
“The road was closed while officers removed the damaged vehicle and checked that liquid that had gone on to the road had not made the surface dangerous.”
The crash caused tailbacks on the edge of town hours after a hole opened up in the A259 King’s Road on Brighton seafront causing congestion throughout the area.
